Join us in August for a 9-day safari exploring the many facets of Tanzania: Safari including the Migration across the Mara River, Maasai, and other Tribal Cultures, Hot Air Balloon across the Serengeti (optional), and the Exotic Spices and White Beaches of Zanzibar! Gideon Kabitulila and Jeremiah Ngoka have organized an unusual safari tour for us.

Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport – see the towering mountain as we fly in. Transfer to Arusha. HM Safaris is there to welcome us!

Day 2: Experience the bustling town of Arusha – pedestrians in colorful garb, brightly painted vans, motorcycle taxis, vendors frying bananas, and much more.

Delight in the “Arusha Guggenheim” – the rich Cultural Heritage Center and the soon-to-open Jane Goodall’s Museum – impressive displays of exquisite African art set up on floors sloped like the Guggenheim.

Experience the local culture of Mto wa mbu – meet local artisans and brewers while riding the tuc-tucs. Rose and I during my third safari tour to Tanzania with HM Safaris! 

Day 3: Full-day game viewing in the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders – the two to three million years old caldera where the Big Five can be found. Here is a shot of an African Buffalo enjoying the water!

 

 

Day 4: Visit the indigenous tribes in the morning – hunt with the Hadzabe, see the Datoga blacksmith in action, and meet the Iraqw.

 

Day 5: Welcome to the land of the Maasai – see their welcome dance and how they live.

 

Enter the Central Serengeti National Park – serious game viewing begins!

Days 6, 7, and 8: Full days of game viewing – move from Central Serengeti to the North-Western Park 

 Try and catch the wildebeest crossings at the Mara River. Here are a few of the thousands of wildebeest swimming across the Mara River from Tanzania to Kenya during the annual Migration.

Stay in various accommodations from beautiful lodges with all the modern conveniences to safari camps in the wilderness of the National parks – each tent fully equipped with great beds, wash basin, toilet, and shower!
