Travels with Elsa recently took a group of three ladies on a once in a lifetime adventure into five African countries. Judy and Karen met me in Cape Town and the one and only day we spent there was full of bright blue skies and sunshine giving us a wonderful opportunity to see Table Mountain in its full glory.
We drove to Bloubergstrand, kicked off our shoes and walked on the lovely white sandy beach while enjoying views of the mountain and a very visible Robben Island.
As the sun set over the ocean, we settled in at the perennial favorite Ons Huisie for a traditional South African meal and of course, an excellent South African wine and local beer. What it is to eat a good seafood ‘potjie’ and fresh fish!
Early the next morning, we flew to Windhoek, Namibia, where we picked up a rental car and made our way to the guest house situated high on a hill. The views were stunning, and we especially enjoyed the excellent breakfast served on the balcony the next morning. Dinner had to be at the iconic Joe’s and it did not disappoint. We walked past all sorts of exhibits and paraphernalia, Taxidermy specimens on the wall and a variety of signs while enjoying the chatter of the local crowd. The food was good and I had a pretty decent steak.
